About exhibition:
The exhibition ‘’New Era: Artistic Discourses on Social and Climate Change’’ is the result of a project implemented by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpske (Banja Luka), the Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina (Novi Sad), and the Božidar Jakac Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Kostanjevica na Krki).
The exhibition presents the work of 12 artists and art groups from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia, selected by curators of the three partner museums, whose works ardently and consistently deal with humanity’s treatment of nature and provide an art commentary on and response to fundamental issues of present-day society, those of the environment, climate and social change, and environmental protection. The selected works present an indepth consideration of the human impect on the environment and of the social phenomena effecting climate change, providing an insight into these problems from the contemporary art perspective. They address the issue of social accoutability, touching upone an array of ecological and environmental topics, from interaction between living organisms and their communities to their interaction with the environment. The artists explore universal themes concerned primarly with environmental degradation and raise awareness of climate and social change, as well as problems caused by modern-day technology and its impact on society and the individual. Staging such an extensive exhibition by a group of regional artists is a chance to create a unique platform for cultural and artistic exchange and put the local art scene on the wider European map.
